The Marguns Mountain Station is a mountain station above Celerina, in the Upper Engadine, at about 2,280 metres on the sunny slope of the Corviglia ski area. It is reached by a gondola that leaves from the edge of Celerina, climbing over forest and pasture in a few minutes, and it works as an intermediate point on the way to the higher parts of the ski area, as well as a destination in its own right. The location, on a broad terrace above the valley, offers an open panorama of the Engadin: the string of lakes along the valley floor, the villages of Celerina, Pontresina and St. Moritz, and the high peaks of the Bernina range on the horizon.

In winter, Marguns is a busy point for skiers and snowboarders. Wide, easy slopes lead down from the station, which suits beginners and relaxed skiers, while lifts carry others up to the harder terrain higher on the mountain, and the sunny terrace is a favourite lunch spot. The station has a service area where skiers can rent equipment, have it adjusted or serviced, and buy basic supplies, which means that visitors can start the day on the mountain without carrying skis or boards from the valley. The convenience of having rental and repair at altitude is useful for those who arrive late or have equipment trouble, and it reflects how a large ski resort like the Engadine organises its services across the mountain.

In summer, the same station gives access to hiking and mountain biking. Marked trails lead from Marguns across the pastures and along the ridge, with views in all directions, and the walk down to Celerina through the forest takes about an hour or two. The route to Lej da Staz, the lake in the forest, can be walked from the lower station, and the Munt Pers viewpoints in the Bernina range can be reached by a longer excursion. Restaurants at the station serve regional dishes, and the terrace is a pleasant spot in good weather. The summer season is shorter than the winter one, and opening dates for the gondola and the services depend on the weather and the timetable.

Check the operating times, ticket prices and rental arrangements before you go, as they change from year to year. The air is thin at this altitude, and the weather can turn quickly, so carry layers, sun protection and a rain jacket, even on a bright day.

The station suits skiers, families, walkers and cyclists, and anyone who wants a quick ride to a mountain terrace with a view. It combines well with a visit to St. Moritz and the other Upper Engadine villages.
