Tramdepot
Former tram depot with brewery and city views
Tramdepot, or Altes Tramdepot, is a lively restaurant and brewery perched next to Bern’s BärenPark, offering some of the city’s best views of the Old Town and the Aare River. Housed in a former tram depot on Grosser Muristalden, the venue blends industrial charm with a welcoming, family-friendly atmosphere. The spacious terrace and beer garden are especially popular in warm weather, providing a perfect spot to relax after exploring Bern’s historic center or visiting the nearby bears.
Inside, guests can watch copper vats at work as the brewery produces a range of house beers, from classic lagers to seasonal specialties. The menu features a mix of Swiss favorites, Viennese and Munich-style dishes, and Asian-inspired options, making it easy to find something for every palate. The restaurant is open daily from 11:00 am to 12:30 am (closed Tuesdays at 11:00 am), and offers amenities such as Wi-Fi, lift access, and child-friendly facilities.
Tramdepot is more than just a place to eat—it’s a social hub where locals and visitors mingle over fresh beer and hearty meals. Dogs are welcome, and the relaxed setting makes it ideal for families, groups, or solo travelers. Whether you’re stopping in for lunch, dinner, or a drink with a view, Tramdepot captures the spirit of Bern’s laid-back hospitality.
