Plateforme 10 serves as a vibrant cultural hub in the heart of Lausanne, located just steps from the main train station. This complex unites three distinct cantonal museums within a single, modern architectural complex, offering visitors a comprehensive look at contemporary art and design. The site is home to the Cantonal Museum of Fine Arts (MCBA), the Cantonal Museum of Design and Contemporary Applied Arts (mudac), and the Photo Elysée.
Visitors can explore diverse collections ranging from historical fine arts to cutting-edge design and photography. The complex is designed for easy navigation, allowing guests to experience multiple disciplines in one visit. The MCBA moved into its new building, designed by Barozzi Veiga, in October 2019, and Photo Elysée and mudac followed in 2022, sharing a second building designed by Aires Mateus. Between them lies a public square with cafés, built on former railway land right beside the tracks.
Tickets are sold for each museum or as a combined pass, and the MCBA's collection displays have been free to visit. Closing days differ between the three museums, so check the opening times of each before you go. Whether you are an art enthusiast or a casual visitor, the platform provides a welcoming environment to engage with contemporary culture in the Swiss city.
