Alpine Museum (Alpenmuseum)

The Alpine Museum (Alpenmuseum) sits at Helvetiaplatz 4 in Bern’s Museumsquartier, a short walk from the city centre. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm; the museum is closed on Mondays. Admission costs CHF 18 for the full exhibition, while the separate Bivouac room and the Lost‑and‑Found Memories Office each charge CHF 6. A combined Museumsquartier pass is available for CHF 30, and refugees holding an F, N or S identity card enter free of charge.

Inside, the two‑floor main exhibition explores the relationship between people and mountains, covering topics such as climate change, tourism, spatial development and the urban‑alpine interface. Interactive spaces like the Bivouac room present surprise displays, and the Lost‑and‑Found office invites visitors to contribute personal memories. The museum is generally wheelchair‑accessible, and guide dogs are welcome in the exhibition areas; pets may join you only in the on‑site restaurant, Las Alps, which serves breakfast and lunch (Mon 9:30‑14:00; Tue‑Fri 9:30‑17:00; Sat‑Sun 10:00‑17:00).

From 16 September 2025 to 31 May 2026, a standard ALPS ticket also grants entry to the “Greenland – Everything Changes” exhibition at the Bern Historical Museum, extending the cultural experience beyond the Alpine Museum itself.
